Paul Chryst talks QBs, Jonathan Taylor at Big Ten Media Days

Wisconsin Badgers football coach Paul Chryst answered several questions about star running back Jonathan Taylor and the quarterback competition during his media availability at Big Ten Media Days in Chicago on Friday.

On Jonathan Taylor, Chryst believes that Taylor still has room to get better, despite breaking NCAA records his first two seasons and claiming the Doak Walker Award in 2018. Chryst also says that Taylor is an impressive leader on and off the field, and that he cares about his team.

In regards to the quarterback competition, Chryst quipped that the Badgers will have one, but more to the point, touted Jack Coan's experience as a starter last year being a huge plus for a largely untested group. Behind Coan, Chryst says that Chase Wolf and Danny Vanden Boom have worked hard in their roles, and that freshman Graham Mertz is handling the hype extremely well, as are his teammates.
