Packers Beef Up The O-Line Selecting UCLA OL Sean Rhyan In 3rd Round

After going with two players on the defensive side of the ball on Day 1 of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers double down on the offensive side of the ball on Day 2. Wide receiver Christian Watson went to the Pack in the second round, and then in the third round the Packers selected UCLA OL Sean Rhyan with the 92nd overall pick.

Rhyan has been the left tackle for UCLA the past three years but he has versatility to move all along the line. The Packers announced him as a tackle but some scouts view him better as a guard. With the departures of Lucas Patrick and Billy Turner this offseason, there will be a starting job that Rhyan can compete for in camp.

Rhyan stands at 6'5" and 321 pounds, giving him ideal size for the position. He had a 33.5" vertical jump at the combine and has good athleticism. He's a much better run blocker than pass blocker but he has the size and athleticism to improve his pass blocking as he develops.

For the Packers, they needed more depth along the offensive line. Rhyan is someone that can fill at both guard and tackle, and that versatility is important and valuable to Green Bay.

That will complete their Day 2 selections. The Packers head into Day 3 with six more picks, including two in the fourth round and three in the 7th. Some of the big needs still unaddressed are tight end and edge rusher.
