Aaron Rodgers could make his preseason debut tomorrow night

Aaron Rodgers was in full gear for the final public practice of training camp, giving some optimism that he may make his preseason debut for the Green Bay Packers tomorrow night in Winnipeg against the Raiders.

Maggie Loney of Cheesehead TV notes this and other starters to watch for as the Packers play their penultimate preseason game tomorrow night.

  • The wide receiver battle might be the deepest in recent years. Whether the Packers will keep as few as five or even as many as eight (though unlikely) remains to be seen, but there are going to be some tough decisions made on cutdown day at 1265 Lombardi Ave. The odd man out might find himself on a different 53-man roster to start the season.
  • Players like Cole Madison, Justin McCray, Lucas Patrick, and second-round draft pick Elgton Jenkins are being tried at a number of different positions along the offensive line to see where they offer the best depth.
  • At inside linebacker, players like Curtis Bolton and Ty Summers have big opportunities ahead of them to build off of already-successful preseason performances, given the injury to second-year player Oren Burks.
  • Thursday night’s game might be our one and only shot of seeing Aaron Rodgers this preseason. While it’s not a necessity, it would be nice to see one or two series of Head Coach Matt LaFleur’s offense being run by QB1.
