4 takeaways from the Packers' 26-13 loss to the Ravens

The Green Bay Packers lost to the Baltimore Ravens 26-13 in the second preseason game, but it was a chance to see the starters get some work in (except Aaron Rodgers). It also was a good barometer on some key position battles.

Sarah Kelliher of Cheesehead TV has four takeaways from the game on Thursday night:

  • Tackling is still a problem: It was a problem last week and it was a problem again this week for the Packers. There was missed tackle after missed tackle and unfortunately linebacker Ty Summers was center stage for a lot of them.
  • The wide receiver group stood out: Besides the obvious talent that is Davante Adams, as well as the potential in second year receivers Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown, the wide receiver room is full of great guys right now for the Packers. The competition in this group is heating up and whatever cuts LaFleur decides to make will ultimately be tough ones.
  • The run, on both sides, needs work: As a whole, the team only rushed for 55 yards, which is obviously not ideal. This is not something that should be super concerning once Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams get back in the mix, but it is certainly something to note. On the defensive side of things, stopping the run was an issue for the Packers Thursday night as well.
  • Who stood out: Jake Kumerow (again), Curtis Bolton, Allen Lazard, Darrius Shepard, Za'Darius Smith
