A popular sweet and salty snack sold around the country has been recalled from stores in more than a dozen states, including Wisconsin, due to a "serious" health risk.

Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company issued a voluntary recall of the 0.6 ounce and 4 ounce bags of its Mauna Loa Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamias as the product may contain almonds and cashews that were not declared on the label, according to a recall notice shared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. The undeclared nuts pose a "serious or life-threatening" risk of allergic reaction to consumers who may have a severe sensitivity or allergy to almonds and/or cashews.

The product was distributed to multiple retailers in more than a dozen states and U.S. territories, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin and Guam. Here are the details for the affected products:

  • 0.6 ounce bag: Best By 10/2026, UPC 0 72992 05464 4, lot numbers K5069C1 and K5069C2
  • 4 ounce bag: Best By 07/2026, UPC 0 72992 05556 6, lot numbers B4339E1 and B4340E1

Consumers with an allergy who have purchased the affected product are encouraged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. As of April 26, there have been no reports of adverse reaction in connection to the recalled product.
