EVELYN KING
When the immediate dancefloor classic "Shame" (1977) was in its ascent, on its way to the Top Ten of the Billboard Hot 100, it would have been sensible to assume that the previously unknown Evelyn "Champagne" King was among the era's seasoned background vocalists strutting into the spotlight. Despite its powerful and knowing vocal, the song was the debut of a teenager, one who proved to be just as adept at funk, pop-R&B, and quiet storm soul with the parent album Smooth Talk, the first of the singer's three gold-certified LPs. While King appeared at the height of the disco era with one of the style's exemplary hits, the versatility the singer displayed on her first album proved her ability to adapt to the rapidly evolving sound of contemporary R&B. Having achieved and sustained success with songwriter/producer T. Life, King then thrived beside Morrie Brown and Kashifin the post-disco era with "I'm in Love" (1981) and "Love Come Down" (1982), sparkling mid tempo jams that topped the R&B and dance charts, went Top 40, and have had as much lasting value as "Shame." Since racking up nine charting albums by the end of the '80s,Kinghas recorded less often but has continued to perform. "The Dance" (2008) put her in a small class of artists with entries on the Billboard dance chart spanning three decades.

Taylor Dayne is an American pop icon with a career spanning three decades, Taylor’s groundbreaking debut single “Tell It To My Heart” turned her into an overnight international star in 1987. She followed the smash hit with seventeen Top 20 singles over the course of her three-decade career, including Number Ones “Love Will Lead You Back” “Prove Your Love” and “I’ll always Love You.” Taylor has sold over 75 million albums and singles worldwide, earned three GRAMMY nominations, an American Music Award, multiple New York Music Awards, received New York Music Hall of Fame honors and ranked as the Number 18 Female Dance artist of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. She is one of the very few artists in musical history to successfully crossover into almost every musical genre and chart with hit singles in Pop, Dance, R&B, Adult contemporary and Rock.
Equally recognized for her songwriting talent, Taylor wrote many of her own hits as well as Tina Turner’s “Whatever You Want.” With a truly distinctive vocal style and powerful range, she created a unique vocal sound all her own that defined an era by her music. As the late 80s moved into the 90s, her chart-topping songs came with her. Her cover of Barry White’s “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love” and “Send Me A Lover” brought a strength and power to a female voice seldom heard in history. Taylor’s international radio and record success along with her stage presence and world tours took her musical message of love and passion straight to the heart of her fans and audiences worldwide.
LISA LISA
One of the greatest RnB/Pop divas to come out of the 1980's music scene, Lisa Velez scored a series of hits. Known by her stage name, Lisa Lisa, she and her band, "Cult Jam", produced 5 albums that sealed their fame in New York City's thriving musical scene.
The youngest of 10 children born in the Hell's Kitchen section of New York City, Lisa aspired to be a singer very early on in life. At the age of 13, Lisa would sneak out to nightclubs where she met Mike Hughes of "Cult Jam". Mike introduced her to Rap band Full Force. The band was immediately impressed with Lisa's angelic sounding voice and launched her to super-stardom.
The first Latin artist to make it big nationwide, Lisa Lisa is seen as a pioneer for any Latin artists who have entered the English-language market. She scored top 10 hits with songs like "I Wonder If I Take You Home," "All Cried Out," "Let The Beat Hit Em", "Lost In Emotion", "Little Jackie" and "Head to Toe".
After disbanding in 1994, Lisa released the funk-soul album "LL77" which included the Top 40 hit "Skip To My Lu" and her first Spanish-language track "Cuando Me Enamore" which peaked at #1 on Puerto Rico radio stations.
Later in the 90s, Lisa starred in Broadway and off Broadway plays such as "Barrio Babes" and "West Side Story". In 2001, Lisa starred in the Nickelodeon series "Taina" playing Gloria Morales, Taina's young and sharp witted mother. Lisa also made a guest appearance on Law & Order's 300th episode in 2003.
Television performances on BET and the ALMA Awards indicated a comeback for the Latin RnB songstress. In 2009, Lisa released her seventh album "Life N Love", her first bilingual album.
