Several People Stabbed in Finland Police Say

Police in Finland say several people have been stabbed in the city of Turku. That's a Swedish-speaking city near the Baltic Sea. At least one accused stabber has been shot by police and arrested.

Witnesses say on social media they heard multiple gunshots, with one person seen lifeless on the ground. Finland's national broadcast Yle reports at least two more people have been injured. The stabbings took place in the Puutori-Market Square area of Turku.

Police say they're hunting for other possible attackers in the area.

Eight people have been taken to a hospital, with some in critical condition according to the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper.

The Finland police are asking people to stay away from the city center as they increase security nationwide. They followed it up with a tweet that the suspected attacker had been shot in the leg and taken into custody.
